#12: Why aren’t we growing more quickly?

Many companies see growth as positive. But have you thought that there are two types of growth: horizontal and vertical? Horizontal growth means that you employ more people, spread out geographically and broaden your product range.  Vertical growth, on the other hand, is about making people grow.

People who grow feel better, perform better, cooperate better with other people, meet customers with a better attitude, trust others and see things in a greater perspective. When people grow in a company, it becomes more obvious in which direction the company is going (vision), why the company is doing what it is doing (mission), and how people should behave (value statement). The result is a positive corporate culture with motivated co-workers who readily deliver that little extra when required.
